Allied Construction Management is a St. John’s–based construction, project-management, and development firm delivering complex commercial, multi-residential, institutional, and healthcare projects across Newfoundland and Labrador. With multiple large-scale projects underway and more in design and permitting, we are growing our team to support the scale and complexity of our work.

We are currently seeking an experienced Surveyor to join our team.

Reporting to the General Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate layout, surveying, and construction control for multiple projects. This role is critical to ensuring work is completed in the correct location, elevation, and alignment while supporting efficient project delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform construction layout for foundations, structural concrete, utilities, and building elements
  • Establish and maintain project control points and benchmarks
  • Verify grades, elevations, dimensions, and locations throughout construction
  • Conduct as-built surveys and maintain accurate survey records
  • Operate total stations, GPS equipment, laser levels, and other survey instruments
  • Interpret architectural, structural, civil, and site drawings
  • Coordinate survey requirements with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, and field crews
  • Prepare survey calculations, reports, and layout documentation
  • Assist with quantity verification and progress measurements as required
  • Ensure survey equipment is calibrated, maintained, and operating correctly
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies in drawings or site conditions
  • Maintain accurate field notes and digital records
  • Support project scheduling by providing timely layout and verification services

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in construction surveying
  • Experience with commercial, institutional, or multi-residential construction is considered an asset
  • Proficient in operating total stations, GPS survey equipment, and construction layout software
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and coordinate systems
  • Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams
  • Professional, positive, and team-focused attitude
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
